What are the volunteer opportunities at Beacon Hill?

Beacon Hill has a variety of opportunities that need the help and attention of volunteers! Here is a sample of activities and tasks. If there is something not listed that you would like to bring to Beacon Hill, please let us know and we will work with you.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR FOSTER/ADOPTION COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER:

  1. Pray. Please be praying for Beacon Hill; we need God's wisdom, provision, and grace all the time.
  2. Become a support family. Come as a family to the facility and have fun with a guest family. These visits usually last 2 hours; support families interact and establish relationships with guest families. The goal of these visits is to develop relationships based on Christ-like love in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. Our hope is that these relationships will continue as a support for the guest family, no matter the circumstances or outcome of their case.
  3. Provide transportation. Bring our guest children to and from Beacon Hill. Sometimes transportation is needed before and after the visit.
  4. Provide meals. We need people willing to drop off meals for guest families during their visits. Meals are a blessing for families because most of them do not have the time or transportation to bring a healthy meal with them to the visit. Eating together gives families the opportunity to share stories, teach manners, and build relationship.
  5. Provide security for the center. An extra person at the center to keep an eye and ear out is always good.
  6. Plan events. Volunteer to help out at our upcoming events as needed.

Why does Beacon Hill need to run background checks?

Once my application is submitted, what should I expect?

You will receive a call within a week from us to inform you of background check paperwork that needs to be filled out along with any other information that will be needed to process your application.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

Volunteering is an opportunity to share your time and talents to build community and to forever impact the lives of those fighting to regain a sense of balance and stability. The families and children we serve often lack that support system and remain at risk for falling back into bad habits. By joining our Beacon Hill team as a volunteer, you help strengthen the resolve of these individuals and let them know that they are not alone, that people care. Volunteers also show our visiting families that, though hard work and perseverance, success can be attained.

How much time is needed to volunteer?

We understand that your time is valuable and we have tried to tailor a variety of opportunities with different time requirements. This allows you the freedom to decide when and how you are available to help us.

What are the volunteer guidelines and policies?
